Good morning from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson international airport, where it’s not even five o’clock yet. Sleepy people are lined up at the security checkpoint questioning their life choices, especially the ones involving ungodly flight times. The ones with their hair done in curls or beachy waves went above and beyond to look great… All most of us ask is that fellow travelers have the respect to shower before their flight.
After I get through security, I’m bound for Houston, and then I’ll drive an hour an a half or so to College Station, Texas! I’m very excited about this new destination. It’s the home of Texas A&M University, a mammoth research university with thousands of people on campus… people I hope to find more in common with than any place I’ve been this year. I have never been too cool for school. Living in a college town is going to be a lot of fun.
Not to mention College Station is only an hour or so from three major Texas cities: Houston, Dallas, and Austin. Sounds pretty cool to me.
And finally, one important perk of living in the Lone Star State: snow preventing me getting home for Christmas isn’t exactly the concern it would be in a city like Boston.
Time to get through security, find coffee, and find my gate, in order of priority. Even at 5:00 a.m., I’m excited about this new adventure.
