Miles of festive lights, garlands, and expensive name brands… The Galleria Mall is a great place to visit during the Christmas season.
The Galleria in Houston is a shopping mall like I’ve never been to before. Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Michael Kors, Valentino, Coach, Fendi, and Tiffany’s (I skipped the breakfast) were all among the stores I didn’t dare step into because I knew I couldn’t afford anything. Vendors, usually attractive Arab men, tried to push perfume samples on me, and when I said not today and kept walking, one called after me, “You’re breaking my heart!” But my credit card stayed in my purse. I was just there to window-shop and enjoy Christmas at The Galleria.
There’s a giant ice-skating rink in the middle of the mall, with a decorated Christmas tree in the middle of that! I glimpsed Elsa on the ice with a million other kids and parents.
The Christmas decorations were beautiful in the hallways! Here’s a close-up…
It was seventy degrees Fahrenheit today, the humidity about 110%… but at The Galleria, it’s easy to feel the Christmas spirit and maybe even imagine it’s cold outside.

Bonus: Loved the Texas spirit in this drawing on a department-store wall.
