Kansas City: Eating

Nibbling my way through some interesting places in Kansas City.

No, I didn’t eat the barbecue Kansas City is famous for.  With the size of my sweet tooth, I needed other kinds of places to satisfy the sugar craving!  Fortunately there are cool places for all kinds of food in Kansas City – here are a few of them!

Coffee:

The food-savvy boyfriend directed my attention to Messenger Coffee & Ibis bakery.  They’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays but I was able to slip in Wednesday morning and thanks to their wifi, spent a productive morning!

Their building is amazing, with not only the sunlight-filled downstairs area but a second level and a rooftop terrace with a roaring fireplace.

I had a beautiful latte and a scrumptious cherry cheese tart. Mmmm!

Ice Cream:

There were plenty of amazing ice cream and fro-yo places in town, but my favorite was Glace.

It’s a small shop, but it’s packed to the corners with creative flavors and warm, caring staff!  If you’re looking for a friendly smile on the Kansas City food scene, you can find it here.  I loved this place for the atmosphere as much as for the ice cream.

Bottom scoop: Peanut Butter & Toasted Black Sesame Seeds. Top scoop: Christopher Elbow Dark Chocolate.

Chocolate:

There’s a chocolatier in town: Christopher Elbow Artisan Chocolates.  They advertise espresso and chocolate – how can you go wrong with that?  I drove to that part of town (parked in a dubious spot that involved walking through an alley – not my favorite) and yes, this store is amazing.  A threat to the wallet, but amazing.

The chocolate is so beautiful but also bursting with flavor.

For such a high end store, their presentation – chocolates on a napkin, espresso in a paper cup – was a little bit strange to me, but the quality was still amazing!

As you can see, Kansas City is a great place to satisfy a sweet tooth!  I definitely enjoyed eating my way around town.
