From the Window Seat

I’m in Maryland, and it’s summer.

Along the highway, the trees are so lush they’re hanging close to the road.  The sky is pure blue and the temperature a pleasant seventy-five degrees (I imagine if the state was personified, Maryland would have its hands on its hips like “That’s all you get!”).  I was in Hagerstown, Maryland for a few weeks last spring and it’s all coming back, how much I like this place.

The Importance of Smiling: Coffee at La Meca

Once again it’s time for me to pack my two suitcases, say my goodbyes, and catch another flight.  In this last blog post from Lake Mary, I had to choose from so many things still to be written about: the Sunrail train ride, downtown Orlando, beautiful beaches.  But nothing in Lake Mary has been quite as comforting as the little coffee shop just around the corner from where I live.  It’s called La Meca.

Ice skating in Florida

The RDV Sportsplex in Maitland, Florida offers not only a huge pool for lap and recreational swimming, a massive gym, a coffee shop and hair salon, but also an ice skating rink called the Ice Den. Ice skating in Florida?! Yes, it is actually a thing! I found it while I was looking for places near me to lap swim, and couldn’t resist the delicious irony of going ice skating in Florida.
