The 4th of July is an official paid holiday for me: one of only five in a year. Doing long stretches of work and then taking long vacations is fantastic, but the occasional paid holiday in the middle of an assignment is a huge treat. This Independence Day I was especially fortunate to be in Florida… close to the beach!
Memento Mori
Graveyards are traditionally morbid places, but on this sunny morning in July, Lake Mary’s cemetery was green and sunny with only a hint of solemness… a peaceful place rather than grim.
Downtown Lake Mary
Lake Mary, Florida used to be a small town north of small city Orlando. With Orlando’s growth to become a bigger city, Lake Mary is starting to see developments pop up… like downtown Lake Mary.
Internal Dialogue
I’m a hardcore introvert, which will come as a surprise to absolutely no one who knows me. I travel, work, and play alone (bonus: sometimes even silently). I love people, but I’m best one-on-one and get quiet in crowds.
However, the internal dialogue is ridiculously intense, coming from all directions. A touch of ADD makes it hard to focus on just one strain of dialogue, too. The only reason I get anything done is because I’m so stubborn: when I’m set on something, I’ll get there. Sometimes I get stubborn about two separate courses of action that conflict, though. When I reflect on that particular strain of internal dialogue, I have to laugh at myself.
