Hello, friends! Today I want to give you a peek into my current work project, a brand-new apartment community here in Baton Rouge, because I’m excited about it.
Highway I-10 runs through south Baton Rouge, and along it, new developments are springing up. The Grove is one of these construction projects: a mixed-use residential development next to the Mall of Louisiana. The High Grove, a luxury apartment community, opened in 2011 and it is the only finished part of the community project to date. The next project that will open is the apartment community I’ll be working to lease up for the next few weeks: the Addison. It opens today.
Before working with CLASS Leasing, any time I heard the word “construction” I pictured massive trucks, muddy holes in the ground, giant beams… and my eyes would glaze over a little bit because a) I didn’t know anything about that world and b) at 135 and 5’7″, I’m not really cut out for being part of that heavy manual labor. But now I know that while building is the most visible part of construction, it’s only one small part of an intricate operation. And I really consider myself lucky to have such a close perspective with rather little responsibility.
The Addison (see the website at: http://theaddisonbr.com) is a 139-unit, mediterranean-style luxury apartment community that includes some lovely retail space on the ground level. In this industry, many apartment communities call themselves luxury apartments. I’ve toured a few of those in Baton Rouge during the past few days… and the competition does okay. But there’s something about the Addison. At night, as you pull off I-10 on the Mall of Louisiana exit, the development’s lights sparkle alongside Dawson’s Creek. It really looks like an enormous Mediterranean villa, a welcoming place to return to at night. Balconies, stucco, stunning architectural finishes. You can almost feel the satin sheets and spa showers. The Addison is unparalleled.
It won’t exist in a luxury bubble, either. The company responsible for building these apartments focuses on outreach in the community and coordinates opportunities for residents to get involved with community service projects, fundraising, and more. They’re tapping into transient Millennials’ need for community in a way I’ve never seen before.
I’m so excited to be able to work with this project. In the coming weeks, wish me and the team here success as we take applications for residence in this beautiful community! Watch for posts on my Instagram feed… this architecture is too good to pass up the photo op.
